Abacus Contest Held

Lekshmy K Jayasurya of Carmel School, Peyad Thiruvananthapuram and Abhay Dalton, Rajagiri Christu Jayanthi Public School Kakkanad, Ernakulam have been adjudged champions in the senior and junior category, respectively at the 10th SMA Abacus State Level Talent Contest here in the city the other day.

In the Senior category the second position was shared by Vidyakrishnan S (Sabarigiri Resedential School, Anchal, Kollam) and Aadithya Mohan (Bahvans Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara), Theertha Nair B S (GGHSS, Balussery, Kozhikode) stood third.

In the junior category S Sree Theerth (Sivagiri Sree Narayana Senior Secondary School, Varkala) and Parthiv P Nair (Bhavans Newsprint Vidyalaya, Velloor Kottayam) came second and third.

Graduation ceremony, demo of Abacus, Memory Techniques, Calendar memorisation and Abacus high speed oral competition, Rubik’s cube solving competition were also held as part of the annual meet. Cultural and entertainment programmes followed by the competitions in which nearly 1,500 students from across the state participated.

Assistant Commissioner of Police K Lalji inaugurated the 10th Abacus State Level Talent Contest. Actor Ramesh Pisharadi and SMA Abacus managing director R G Suresh Babu also spoke on the occasion.
